The Arcuate Fasciculus (AF) is a white matter tract connecting the posterior temporal region (Wernicke’s area) involved in the comprehension of language with the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG; Broca’s region), involved in the production of language. Lesions of the AF cause impairment in repetition of heard speech, phonological paraphasias, and deficits in speech monitoring and learning
